The vision for the Village Creek Classic Canoe and Kayak Event is to highlight Village Creek as Silsbee’s greatest recreational asset and promote the sustainable use of Village Creek as a place to congregate, while creating a fun and playful event connecting the nature lover and outdoor enthusiasts. 

Event Schedule


8:00 AM – Registration/Check-In/Shuttle service begins for Adventure Seeker Race Only

9:00 AM- Adventure Seeker begins at Hwy 418

8:30 AM – Registration/Check-In/Shuttle service begins for Passionate Paddler & Clean-Up 

9:30 AM – Passionate Paddler  begins at Hwy 327

10:00 AM – Creek Clean-Up begins at Hwy 327, following the Passionate Paddler 

1:30 PM - All routes need to be completed by this time

*Winners will be announced, and awards given once final times are calculated for the category.

*Note: This is not a professionally timed race, nor is it a qualifier for other races.


There are three categories designed to take participants 1-3 hours or 2-4 hours to successfully complete. Participants will be allowed to bring their own kayak/canoe or must rent one.


  • The Adventure Seeker Category is a 10 mile course on Village Creek from Hwy 418 to Baby Galvez, starts @ 8:30am.

  • The Passionate Paddler  Category is a 2.5 mile course on Village Creek from Hwy 327 to Baby Galvez, starts @ 9:30am.

  • The Creek Clean-Up  begins on Village Creek from Hwy 327 to Baby Galvez.  Mesh trash bags will be provided at the start line for participants to pick up trash along the creek and creek bank, starts @ 9:30am.


Following the event, you will have choices of different food vendors and awards will be announced at the Winner’s Tent. We hope you or your team and family will join us for great food, vendors, games & activities, and a family fest.

  • Participation cost includes t-shirt, goodie bag, and a meal ticket.

  • Presale Tickets are $35 per person, ends Friday, May 31st. Day of event price is $40 per person. 

  • If you are renting a canoe/kayak, YOU MUST RESERVE YOUR OWN by calling Big Thicket Outfitters Canoe & Kayak Rental @ 409-786-1884

  • Note: THEY MAY RUN OUT, so reserve your canoe/kayak and register ASAP.

  • All participants must park at the Silsbee RV Park 1041 S Mill Creek Dr, Silsbee, Texas . A free shuttle service is available for spectators, participants, and boats.

  • Awards will be given for the three fastest participants for each race and category. Categories include 2-person canoe, 1-person kayak, and for 2-person kayak for 1st place only for the Adventure Seeker and Passionate Paddler.

  • For the creek clean-up category, awards will be given to the top 3 who collect the most trash in pounds.

  • Awards will be announced at the Winner’s Tent once the results are in. Pictures will be taken of the winners with the Silsbee Board President and the Presenting Sponsor (if available).

  • Desired t-shirt sizes are not guaranteed for registrations received after May 29th.

  • Meal ticket will be provided for all participants and you choose the meal.
